TabletsAntituberculosis and antibacterial drug. It is active against intracellular mycobacteria and penetrates well into tuberculous lesions. It shows no decrease in activity at a caseous lesion acid pH and is prescribed for the treatment of caseation necrosis, caseous lymphadenitis, and tuberculoma. Depending on the dose, pyrazinamide exerts a bactericidal or bacteriostatic effect. Resistance may emerge when used as monotherapy, however it is less likely when pyrazinamide is used in combination with other anti-TB drugs.
