TabletsAntimicrobial agent of the oxazolidinone class. Its mechanism of action is due to inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis. Linezolid binds to bacterial ribosomes thereby preventing the 70S initiation complex formation which is a key element of the translation initiation in protein synthesis.
It shows in vitro activity against aerobic Gram-positive bacteria, some Gram-negative bacteria, and anaerobic microorganisms.
