Concentrate for solution for infusionAntineoplastic drug, alkaloid. Etoposide is a semisynthetic podophyllotoxin derivative that exerts its cytotoxic action by damaging DNA. It inhibits topoisomerase II, causes cell arrest in S-G2 interphase of the cell cycle while it affects G2 phase at higher doses. It does not interfere with microtubular assembly.
At high concentrations (10 µg/mL or more), it causes lysis of cells entering mitosis. At low concentrations (0.3 to 10 µg/mL), cells are inhibited from entering the prophase. It inhibits nucleotide transport through plasma membrane which prevents DNA synthesis and reparation.
