Up until now, a major contributing cause to the industry's growing reliance on imported medications has been the inaccessibility of Russia's own manufacture of hormone pharmaceuticals. Thus, as part of the import substitution program, Pharmasyntez started working on the design and construction of a plant for the production of hormonal drugs at the request of the National Medical Research Center for Endocrinology and with the support of the Tyumen Region Government, Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Industry Development Fund.

Pharmasyntez-Tyumen is the only plant in the country and the biggest in Europe that produces hormone medications.

There are currently no comparable hormonal medications in Russia, and the production complex's capacity enables it to meet all of Russia's needs for hormonal medications, which amounts to 1.5 billion tablets annually.
