Pharmasyntez Group and Rosatom State Corporation will supply domestic dialysis equipment and medications to patients

Pharmasyntez-Medtech LLC (Pharmasyntez Group) and Rusatom RDS JSC (Rosatom State Corporation) signed a cooperation agreement on October 7, 2024, at the international forum Bioprom 2024.

The signing ceremony was attended by Nikolay Panikarovsky, CEO of Pharmasyntez-Medtech LLC, and Anatoly Myalitsyn, Director of Specialized Medical Equipment at Rusatom RDS JSC. Anton Alikhanov, Russia's Minister of Industry and Trade, and Mikhail Murashko, Russia's Minister of Health, were also in attendance.

The agreement confirms the parties' mutual interest in organizing cooperation and implementing projects in the field of providing patients with dialysis therapy, such as the production of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis machines, the supply of dialysis solutions and consumables, and the provision of medication for dialysis patients. According to expert data, foreign companies currently dominate the Russian market for dialysis consumables and medical equipment, with Fresenius (41%), BBraun (21%), Nipro (8%), and Baxter (7%). According to Roszdravnadzor (Russia's Federal Service for Healthcare Supervision), there are 621 hemodialysis centers operating nationwide, serving 52,326 patients.

Following the withdrawal of the American company Baxter from Russia, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Roszdravnadzor launched initiatives to reduce reliance on imported supplies. This agreement will increase technological sovereignty in the dialysis sector.

Since 2023, the Pharmasyntez Group has successfully supplied Russian patients with a full range of peritoneal dialysis solutions and is actively preparing to launch the production of dialysis consumables and equipment in Kaluga. The first medical device manufacturing plant is expected to open in 2025, allowing the joint venture with Rusatom RDS JSC to fully supply the market with modern dialysis equipment and medications.

The agreement between Pharmasyntez-Medtech LLC and Rusatom RDS JSC opens up new possibilities for expanding domestic dialysis production. This collaboration seeks to reduce Russia's reliance on foreign medical equipment and consumables while ensuring that patients receive high-quality products and effective treatment. With rising demand for dialysis services and foreign companies exiting the Russian market, the agreement is a critical step toward achieving technological sovereignty and improving national healthcare standards.

The Bioprom: Industry and Technology for Humans International Forum took place in Gelendzhik on October 7-8, 2024. The Pharmasyntez Group served as the event’s title partner.
