Pharmasyntez Group delivers humanitarian aid to cyclone-hit Republic of the Union of Myanmar

An Il-76 aircraft from the Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) has delivered humanitarian aid to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, which was devastated by a powerful cyclone. Acting on the directive of Russian President Vladimir Putin and under the order of EMERCOM Head Alexander Kurenkov, 33 tons of humanitarian supplies—including 6,000 vials of ciprofloxacin provided by Pharmasyntez—were dispatched to the affected region.

“As part of our deepening cooperation with the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Pharmasyntez Group has committed to supporting joint efforts to strengthen pharmaceutical security in the region. Myanmar is one of the friendly countries in the area, and we see significant opportunities to expand ties and collaborate with ASEAN countries,”

— said Nikita Punia, Executive Director of the Pharmasyntez Group.

This humanitarian effort follows earlier initiatives by Pharmasyntez in Myanmar. In December 2023, the company delivered its first aid shipment, which included anticancer medications produced at its Pharmasyntez-Nord facility in St. Petersburg. Agreements to launch cooperation were reached in September 2022 during a visit by a Myanmar delegation to Pharmasyntez’s production site in Irkutsk.
