Useful
Saterex is the first Russian original DPP-4 inhibitor (gosogliptin) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, meeting the need for modern, safe treatment as part of import substitution.
Gosogliptin is an active, highly selective inhibitor of the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 intended for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. By inhibiting DPP-4 activity, gosogliptin increases the concentrations of incretin hormones synthesised in the intestine: glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). Increased GLP-1 and GIP concentrations increase the sensitivity of pancreatic beta cells to glucose, leading to increased insulin synthesis and secretion. Increased GLP-1 concentrations increase the sensitivity of pancreatic alpha cells to glucose, improving glucose-dependent regulation of glucagon secretion. Reducing elevated glucagon secretion during meals decreases insulin resistance. The reduction in glucagon concentrations together with the increase in insulin concentrations, resulting from increased GLP-1 and GIP concentrations, reduces hepatic glucose production, leading to lower blood glucose levels. In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and hyperglycaemia, these changes in insulin and glucagon secretion reduce glycated haemoglobin HbA1c concentrations and decrease both fasting and postprandial plasma glucose concentrations.
