Cabazitaxel binds to tubulin and promotes the assembly of tubulin into microtubules while inhibiting their disassembly. This leads to stabilization of microtubules, which ultimately inhibits mitotic and interphase activity of the cell.
Cabazitaxel has demonstrated a broad spectrum of antitumor activity against late stage human tumors xenografted into mice. Cabazitaxel is active against docetaxel-sensitive tumors. In addition, cabazitaxel has shown activity against tumor models insensitive to chemotherapy, including docetaxel.
