AN OFFICIAL GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY WAS HELD ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE OF PHARMASYNTEZ-CHEMIE
Its solemn opening was dated for the start of design works for construction of a facility for the production of active pharmaceutical substances and finished products in Usolye-Sibirskoye.

The President of Pharmasyntez Group of Companies Vikram Punia, Irkutsk Region Governor Sergei Levchenko, the Management Board of JSC Pharmasyntez, and the municipal administration of Usolye-Sibirskoye took part in the opening ceremony.
‘Today we are making history’, the President of Pharmasyntez Group Vikram Punia emphasized. ‘We are going to construct the largest in the world infrastructure for the production of pharmaceutical products on the territory of Usolye-Sibirskoye. I really hope to start the production by the year 2021, and by the year 2025 we should surpass the Soviet Union’s best of times in terms of production output, when antibiotics, in fact, used to be produced in Usolye-Sibirskoye for the fifth of the world’.
Pharmasyntez-Chemie, LLC is the largest investment project of Pharmasyntez Group. Under the project, an Industrial and Technology Park on the territory of monotown Usolye-Sibirskoye is going to be constructed. Active pharmaceutical substances and finished products will be produced there. An administrative office building, R&D center along with several laboratories equipped with the most up-to-date equipment for implementation of new projects on development and introduction of original drugs into production, pilot plants for optimization of new product technologies will be located on the territory. Municipal, transport, and technology infrastructures, as well as resting places for the Technology Park residents are going to be constructed.
‘The social and economic environment in Usolye-Sibirskoye is the first to depend on successful project implementation alongside its raised living standards and business environment development, Angara Region Governor Sergei Levchenko noted. ‘Undoubtedly, it is a national scale project both in terms of tax yield and creating jobs.
Pharmasyntez-Chemie Project will be designed for 2 000 jobs. Training of qualified personnel for a future facility has already begun.
‘At the first stage we need technicians, biotechnicians’, the First Vice-President of Pharmasyntez Group Alexander Keiko told. ‘These last three years our company has been providing an employer-sponsored education at Saint-Petersburg State Chemical and Pharmaceutical University, the leading Russian University. Since the beginning of this year, an annual recruitment of future pharmacologists into this University will be up to 20 people. We also cooperate with two other universities in our country, including Irkutsk State Medical University. At the second stage we will start training engineering and technical personnel’.
Preliminary investment volume for the first construction phase of Pharmasyntez-Chemie facility will be 10 billion rubles. The facility is supposed to produce up to 1 thousand ton of the substances per year.
