In November, excursions for employees’ children were held at the site of the Pharmasyntez Group of Companies in St. Petersburg. They were timed to coincide with the autumn school break and allowed children to visit a unique plant and see where their parents work. More than 50 schoolchildren from 7 to 17 years old got acquainted with modern pharmaceutical production and tried themselves as employees of the enterprise.

The employees of the Cytostatics Production Unit walked guests through the process of making medications. The excursion participants visited the technical area of the freeze dryers and the inspection and packaging area. Everyone interested (there were quite a few of them) could try themselves as drug dosers and inspectors who check for defects at the visual inspection stage.

An interesting program featuring both entertaining and scientific activities was prepared for the young researchers. The sublimation of benzoic acid, which resulted in amazing snowflakes on a Christmas tree, turned out to be an unexpected experiment. The children were faced with an exciting quest of mixing colored liquids, immersing objects in liquid nitrogen, and coloring solutions in the laboratory for the development of biological products. Visitors were able to explore the mysterious world of microorganisms by examining a drop of water under a microscope. 

We hope that personal scientific discoveries await the boys and girls ahead, and maybe some of them will follow the example of their parents and choose to work in the pharmaceutical industry.
