FEBRUARY, 4: WORLD CANCER DAY
Since 2005, February 4 is announced to be World Cancer Day by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). It is customary to celebrate World Cancer Day on 4 February.  The issues of oncology and important early cancer diagnostics are in the focus of public attention on this day due to efforts of thousands of people all over the world.
On January 23, 2018 the Ministry of Healthcare of Irkutsk Region initiated a press-conference on cancer issues. The conference took place in the press-center of the Oblastnaya newspaper.
According to the organizers, this event aimed to heighten the level of public knowledge on cancer, one of the most serious diseases in the world, and focus on cancer prevention, diagnostics, and treatment.
Prof., MedScD Viktoria Vladimirovna Dvornichenko, Head Physician of State Budgetary Healthcare Institution Regional Oncology Centre and Svetlana Viktorovna Ovanesyan, Head Pediatric Oncologist of the Irkutsk Region, were among the conference participants.
Pharmasyntez took part in this conference as an expert.
Mr. Alexander Keiko, CEO of JSC Pharmasyntez noted: “Import of major oncology drugs is very specific to the national market. Pharmasyntez realized this problem several years ago, and in 2017 it launched a new facility Pharmasyntez-Nord solely for the production of anti-tumor drugs in Saint Petersburg. The whole range of modern and most demanded in healthcare community anti-tumor drugs will be released to replace the import ones. Today the company product portfolio composes 8 drugs which can compete with the import drugs both in quality and price. Pharmasyntez is also planning to discover new next-generation molecules which could be efficient in the fight against cancer cells. Moreover, various modern anti-tumor drugs are bioengineering products. The company is planning to enter this market sector as well.  So, these drugs manufacturing engineering started in 2018”.
Remember that on May 31, 2017 the territory of special economic zone Novoorlovskaya in Saint Petersburg hosted a grand opening of the first stage of the facility JSC Pharmasyntez-Nord, which focuses on development and production of modern and successful anti-tumor drugs.
