Evgeny Orachevsky, Chief Executive Officer of JSC Pharmasyntez, announced this news today at the meeting with Igor Kobzev, the Acting Governor of the Irkutsk Region.
“Our region is interested in the construction of such a plant in its territory. At the times of the pandemic of a new coronavirus disease, the whole country has faced the challenge associated with the lack of personal protective gear, namely facemasks, protective clothing for medical workers. Today, these issues have to be solved on an on-going basis. Once the plant is constructed, the region’s need in personal protective gear will be satisfied. The production will probably not be limited to manufacturing of different types of facemasks. The product range could also include medical gowns, scrubs, and other personal protective gear,” Igor Kobzev said.
“Through your support, implementation of this project becomes possible. We will select the equipment and define the requirements for the manufacturing site. In addition, we’ll have to mutually estimate the demand for these products, including an after-pandemic demand, and develop an appropriate list of items to be produced,” Evgeny Orachevsky welcomed the suggestion.
Moreover, at the meeting, the Acting Governor suggested Pharmasyntez to participate in the formation of the region’s strategic stockpile of drugs and other items needed to treat the coronavirus infection.
“Such an assistance is essential today. At the present moment, there are 8 corona cases confirmed and one ambiguous result obtained. More than eight thousand of people are self-isolated, but the situation has no upward trend yet,” Igor Kobzev stated.
“Pharmasyntez is the only pharmaceutical company in Russia that produces an anti-retroviral drug Kalidavir® (Lopinavir/Ritonavir) recommended in the guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation as a drug to treat the coronavirus infection. We are ready to ensure the supply of this drug to medical institutions of the Irkutsk Region on a priority basis,” Evgeny Orachevsky said.
