On September 12, Pharmasyntez-Tyumen factory employees took part in the Russian national marathon “#DavaiVstupai” (#ComeOnJoin). They took the first step in assisting others battling life-threatening illnesses by signing a consent to join the bone marrow donor registry and giving blood for typing.

Bone marrow is a hematopoietic tissue found in large human bones. There is a common misconception that it is obtained from the spine and that donating it can be dangerous to health. In fact, in 80% of cases stem cells are obtained from blood and only in 20% of cases it is done surgically (from the pelvic bone). A donor has a choice in how the cells are harvested.

By becoming a donor, each person not only gives hope to the others, but gives new lives.
