The Pharmasyntez Group of Companies participated in the International RUSSIA EXPO

On November 4th, the largest international exhibition-forum “Russia” was launched in Moscow at VDNKh (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy) exhibition complex. 89 Russian regions take part in it. They will be demonstrating their main social and cultural achievements and introducing modern technological developments and major scientific discoveries during 6 months.

On November 16th and 17th, the Days of the Irkutsk Region were held within the framework of the exhibition, in which the Pharmasyntez Group of Companies actively participated.

During the exhibition opening Nikita Punia, Executive Director of the Pharmasyntez Group of Companies, told the journalists about the company’s contribution to the development of the region:

“The Pharmasyntez Group of Companies was created in 1997 in Irkutsk, where its first manufacturing site was built.
Today, Pharmasyntez is the only pharmaceutical company beyond the Urals that owns the largest production and research bases in the cities of Bratsk and Irkutsk.

As a part of the socio-economic cooperation of the company with the Irkutsk region, the Cooperation Agreement by and between the Government of the Irkutsk Region and JSC Pharmasyntez the funding amount of which exceeded 100 million rubles over the past 5 years, was signed in 2013. In the framework of the Agreement the funding amount exceeded 100 million rubles over the past 5 years. Pharmasyntez will continue to take an active part in the development of the region by advancing its partnerships in various directions.”

At the round table discussion, Larisa Kulbachnaya, the acting head of Human Resources and Personnel Policy of the Pharmasyntez Group of Companies, spoke on the matter of workforce capacity as a key factor of the economic development. She explained how by establishing cooperation with regional universities the company ensured the synergy between business and education.

According to Larisa Kulbachnaya, the only way for companies to attract young talented specialists is to work hand-in-hand with regional educational institutions and to co-develop training programs. And the cooperation with them will help ensure that specialists choose the regions as their permanent residence.

“Today there is a problem on the governmental and social levels. And the problem is that young people are not willing to get a degree in exact sciences, which leads to the lack of human resources at manufacturing enterprises. For instance, there is a severe shortage of chemists and technologists in the Pharmasyntez Group of Companies at the moment. We develop many motivational and retention programs but the issue is of structural nature. On one hand, there are young people who are not able to find jobs, and employers who need experienced employees, on the other one. We do a lot to retrain and adapt such specialists at the Pharmasyntez Group of Companies, however there is a need of a governmental support as well. Exact science education ought to become prestigious. And we have high hopes about it becoming a reality in the nearest future”, added the Head of Human Resources and Personnel Policy of the Pharmasyntez Group of Companies.
